Republican Governors Announce Leadership

The Republican Governors Association announced its new leadership team recently as the group prepares to grow the Republican Party through its Governors.

Governor Mark Sanford was voted Chairman of the Republican Governors Association. Governor Haley Barbour became the new Vice-Chairman.

Governor Rick Perry is the Finance Chairman.

Governor Charlie Crist will chair the Annual Gala and Governor Sonny Perdue will serve as Recruitment Chairman.

Governor Linda Lingle, Governor Jim Douglas, and Governor Tim Pawlenty will also serve on the Executive Committee.

“I am honored and excited to become chairman of the Republican Governors Association as we work together to win a majority of Governors by 2010,” said RGA Chairman Governor Mark Sanford. “Republican Governors are natural leaders who will find solutions to our nation’s challenges and bring back the Party.”

The Republican Governors Association will head into 2009 having raised a record amount of money and with a record amount of cash on hand. It was the only Republican campaign committee to have all its incumbents reelected.

“The Republican Governors Association was a bright spot for the Republican Party this year and it was a privilege to serves as chairman,” said Governor Rick Perry.

“Our Governors are positioned to lead the party and I am confident that Governor Sanford will build on our success.”

Congratulations to State Representative Scott Petri on his reelection to the Pennsylvania House in District 178!

Here are the results from the Bucks County Board Of Elections web page showing Scott’s win at 57% of the votes cast as of the morning of November 5 th. If you Click Here or on the ” View Results by District” link below you may see the details by all 29 Voting Districts in the 178th Pennsylvania Assembly District.

By our reckoning, from the figures published this morning, Scott Petri won Northampton Township by 13,251 to 9,268 for Steven Rovner and 569 for Bill O’Neill, or 54.7% vs 40.1% & 2.5% of the votes cast (Total Northampton Township Votes = 20,088)
