Pelosi, House Democrats Change – the Rules

Here are the Highlights of Democrat-driven Rules Package for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 111th Congress:

* Rolls back the guarantee of the Minority to offer an alternative, even when the rules prevent any other amendments.

* Paves the way for new tax hikes by denying the opportunities for the minority to reject tax increases.

* Allows anyone – even the bill’s author – to designate spending as an “emergency,” meaning it’s exempt from PAYGO enforcement.

* Repeals a key reform put in place in 1995 – six-year term limits for standing committee chairmen.

Is this “Change to believe in?”  I think not!  But it is change.
