“I am honored and excited to become chairman of the Republican Governors Association as we work together to win a majority of Governors by 2010,” said RGA Chairman Governor Mark Sanford. “Republican Governors are natural leaders who will find solutions to our nation’s challenges and bring back the Party.”

The Republican Governors Association will head into 2009 having raised a record amount of money and with a record amount of cash on hand. It was the only Republican campaign committee to have all its incumbents reelected.

“Our Governors are positioned to lead the party and I am confident that Governor Sanford will build on our success.”
